NO WINTER MAINTENANCE

About

This novel depicts the lives of three pioneers who came together in Aspen, Colorado, during the late nineteenth century, and Owen Stewart, a current-day newspaper reporter who intends to spend his retirement writing historical nonfiction.

A forgotten file box from the local historical society holds memorabilia, letters, and newspaper articles relating to the lives and deaths of two young Victorian-era women and an older man. For most of his life, Stewart has experienced hauntings and has been inexplicably drawn to a small alpine cemetery where the graves of these three pioneers reside. Now, he has time to discover why. After retreating to his remote mountain ranch to write, a snowstorm holds him captive, and he is driven into madness as specters visit him. Two want their story told, but an evil presence doesn't. While Stewart delves into their lives, he learns of his connection to the past and the reason why he is being haunted.
